The School of Engineering and Computer Science
offers both thesis and non-thesis options in the following graduate programs:
- Master of Science in Computer Science
- Master of Science in Electrical Engineering

Thesis option: Each graduate student is required to conduct research through completion of a thesis and develop depth in a specific academic area.
Non-thesis option: Each graduate student is required to complete a portfolio of representational projects from the student’s master’s coursework, a resume/CV, a LinkedIn profile and a report (a brief response to an assigned paper or project report).
With a master’s degree from the School of Engineering and Computer Science at WSU Vancouver, you should:
- Have a depth of knowledge in a particular field or subfield of your discipline so that you are recognized as expert in that field.
- Be able to formulate and execute a research plan, including generating and analyzing research results.
- Be able to communicate effectively through oral presentations and publications.
- Meet the demands and increasing responsibilities of a successful career by pursuing professional development.
